A few years ago, my dentist sat me down for a little talk about dental hygiene. "Cut down on the sugar," he said, "and replace your manual toothbrush with an electric model. Otherwise, you're going to be spending a lot of time in my office."
Since I deeply loathe those excruciating injections he gives before drilling holes in my teeth, I complied. Happily, my new electric toothbrush worked great. It was easy to use and did an excellent job cleaning my teeth and extending those periods of bliss between each new session of painful dental work.
However, over the fours years since this purchase, the length of time between recharges has been steadily decreasing. Last month, I decided to retire the toothbrush. After checking out the specifications and price of potential replacements, I settled on the Oclean Flow Sonic Electric Toothbrush.
This toothbrush arrived well protected in a cardboard box. It is just over an inch in diameter and weighs 4.7 ounces. When the included brush is attached, the toothbrush reaches a length of 10.2 inches.
A button located near the top turns on the device and selects one of the five available modes. A flap at the bottom can be opened, revealing this toothbrush's charging input.
The brush is equipped with a Maglev brushless motor capable of speeds up to 38,000 RPM. A 2500mAh rechargeable battery provides power.

How Electric Toothbrushes Work
Electric toothbrush bristles vibrate, helping to remove plaque buildup from your teeth and gums. The vibration provides additional micro-movements every time you move the toothbrush across your teeth.
These devices are beneficial for those with orthodontic appliances, such as braces, because they make brushing easier.
This toothbrush is fitted with a Maglev brushless motor capable of speeds up to 38,000 RPM. The vibration frequency is dependent upon the mode selected.
The rechargeable 2500mAh battery will, according to the manufacturer, hold a charge in standby for up to 180 days.
After a week of use, this toothbrush is still going strong. When it eventually requires a recharge, I will update this article.
A two-minute timer ensures I brush my teeth long enough to remove plaque from my teeth and gums sufficiently. Every 30 seconds, the toothbrush's vibration pauses for a moment, suggesting I concentrate on cleaning a different section of my teeth.
- Gentle Mode is intended for those with sensitive teeth and gums.
- The Morning Mode features a higher vibration rate and is designed to scrub away the plaque that formed overnight.
- In Standard Cleaning Mode, the vibration rate increases yet again. This enhances the toothbrush's ability to clean.
- Whitening Mode utilizes the same vibration rate as Standard Cleaning Mode but includes a subtle secondary vibration. This mode is designed to improve the toothbrush's ability to remove stains from teeth.
- In Night Mode this toothbrush's vibration rate is increased to its maximum, providing deep and thorough cleaning of the user's teeth and gums. This is the mode that I usually use.
I've brushed my teeth with this toothbrush twice a day for the past week, following up by rinsing my mouth with water. I then finish off by cleaning again using an Oclean W10 water flosser.
My teeth appeared and felt clean after they were brushed, and the water flosser washed away very little additional debris. This suggests that the electric toothbrush is very effective.
This electric toothbrush is easy to use and works effectively to clean plaque from my teeth and gums. It is simple to operate, rechargeable, and appears to be well constructed. The Oclean Flow Sonic Electric Toothbrush is recommended. Until the end of September, this toothbrush is on sale for $29.99.
