Daisy Mariposa is a freelance writer and editor originally from Newark, New Jersey who currently resides in Mission Viejo, California. She has a B.A. in Fine Arts from Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey and is certified to teach art in New Jersey from Kindergarten through the twelfth grade.
Daisy also has an Occupational Certificate in Travel Management from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California and an Occupational Certificate in International Business from Coastline Community College in Fountain Valley, California. In addition, Daisy has taken many college-level information technology, Web design, and Web graphic arts courses.
Daisy’s writing career began while working in the Stock and Bond Division of AT&T when she was promoted from Security Owner Correspondent to Policy and Procedure Analyst. Her assignments included writing question and answer sheets for employees to use while fielding telephone inquiries, letter templates to be used when answering written inquiries, and sections of the corporate policy and procedure manuals.
Daisy has also written policy and procedure documents as part of her work as an analyst for Allied-Signal Aerospace Company and the Toshiba Corporation. Daisy has written content and created the graphics for various Web sites and has also worked as a copy editor and proofreader for a number of sites.
Daisy was the technical editor and proofreader for several Information Technology books — published by Sybex and friends of ED — dealing with Flash and ActionScript. This work involved reading the manuscripts and testing the code (computer programs) to be certain that the code did what the author claimed it would do.
Daisy had a consulting assignment in Stockholm, Sweden for Ab Trav och Galopp, a harness racing track, which was expanding the scope of its business to online betting. Her work included designing graphics, testing code, and writing content for the English language portion of the company’s Web site.
Daisy is currently involved with converting dead tree books (DTB) — printed versions of books — and newly-written manuscripts to electronic format for the growing e-book industry. She also proofreads, copy edits, fact checks, and does research for such books.
Daisy's interests — in addition to writing — include gardening, jewelry design, the performing arts, reading, and travel. She writes personal narratives and articles on a wide variety of subjects for HubPages.
Daisy was awarded a HubNuggets Accolade for her article My Flying Lesson on December 7, 2011.
On August 6, 2012, Daisy was awarded the 2012 Hubbie for Most Interesting Hub, Comet Halley (Halley's Comet).
Daisy is honored to have been selected by HubPages to be a member of the first group (the beta test group) in the six-month HubPages Apprenticeship Program. She began the program on March 1, 2012 and completed the program on August 31, 2012.
